Question New Build, Old Data

Hello,

I will be putting together my second build soon but rather than re-install Windows and all my applications and spend hours configuring everything as per my old system, I was wondering if I could just transfer an image to the new system??

I am aware that there may be issues with different drivers etc being required (new chipset etc) but I've been told in the past that XP should identify what needs updating/replacing and provided you have the required drivers to hanbd there should not be any major problems.

Fine, however, one final twist - my current system is setup as RAID 1 on an ICH6R and I'm moving to an ICH10R for my new build.

Is there any way to migrate my data?

Any insights appreciated.

This is partially true "IF" XP boots up.
Bare minimum you'll have to do a repair install.

I'd highly recommend you do a nice fresh clean install.
