which motherboard to get

Hi guys, I'm new to the whole hardware/building own pc, this is the first time
I;ve only got the atx case and video card for now and I was wondering if someone can help me choose the right motherboard, between $100 & $150
the graphic card is an ATI RAdeon HD4850 and I'm willing to buy a quad q6600,
thanks

I rather get the asus p5q, and get a retail cpu.

The q6600 is good for a quad, and the e8500 is great for a dual.

Cool, the asus p5q is about $170 cdn, so it will work fine with asus HD4850 and q6600 CPU?
which memory stick I should buy? I was thinking of the 4gb dominator but it’s quite expensive, any hints would be appreciated,
thank you very much

This is good memory-

You want to buy memory in pairs so that your motherboard can make use of Dual Channel memory.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814102802

Memory

awaiting your confirmation,

One more question about the video card, I was palnning to buy the ati hd4850 512 mb for $195 so I figured for $20 or $30 more I could get the 1gb, did I make the right choice? thanks

Nice rig, I liked the Intel choice better but this is pretty much a Asus user group.

The link to the memory is the same as the motheboard.

Also, I wouldn't get the 1gb card unless I was using a 24" monitor or more perhaps. I doubt you would see much difference on the lower resolutions.

I’m using a 19” screen only, good to know that I wont need a 1gb card, I’ll save some money I get the 512mb
Much appreciated guys
I’m probably gonna be back soon for more technical questions as soon everything is in place, this is my first build and I’m just learning step by step,
