Is the heatsink/fan still installed securely? Did you use the thermal compound preapplied on the heatsink?
Is the fan still working like normal? |

the stock heat sink/fan really are troublesome to put on... you need to understand the directions of the arrows and how the cam works before attaching to the system board. play around with them prior to snapping them in the motherboard... the point of the arrow should be perpendicular to the heat sink...you should press them down on opposite corners and the last one will require a little extra force. This is best done with the mother board out of the case and applying equal pressure from the back side of the board. Be careful when handling the system board but do not be afraid of it. If all goes well, you will notice that the ends of the cam spread apart when they bottom out on the back side of the board, you will also hear a click, ensuring you have seated that corner of the cam... I hope I explained this well enough, it is hard to explain. Last edited by jdeb; 12-17-2008 at 10:42 PM. |

I wouldn't put that much Arctic Silver on...about the size of two grains of rice, smoothed with finger in a baggy and evened out with a piece of credit card. It only has to fill micro inconsistencies. Too much actually insulates (rather than conducts heat).
