Raidmax PSU's are not good! Check thus thread for good ones.

I would definitely consider a different brand of MOBO....preferably one with Intel chipsets. Have you looked at Asus boards? The P5Q series are very popular.
LG or Lite-On would be a better choice of DVDRW. Do you really need lightscribe?

The raidmax i picked out got good reviews.

I looked at the p5q I am a fan of nVidia chipsets. But it was an option to go the p5q route.
I dont have to have lightscribe. I just picked it for convienience. Thanks for the checking the stuff out for me.

if you want to take a chance this motherboard has some interesting specs

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813158002

but I would change the memory to gskill ddr2 800

I am waiting on a budget gamer build deposit to check this board out.

Scrap the case. With all the changes you are looking at something similar to my build (better video card. That case was horrible on air flow. It was a heat monster. I ended up putting my old build in it and giving it to a friend. Go with something like the Antec 900. Best case I have ever owned. I hope to use it for an i7 upgrade in about a year.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=antec%20900

Look at this board. Better northbridge chip and it is cheaper after rebate. I will never stray from asus again. Made that mistake once and regretted it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131347

I would also suggest this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148212

Little more expensive but the timings are much tighter. I have a q6600 2.4 ghz running stable at 3.0ghz with 4GB of RAM running at 2.0V 4-4-4-12. This beast flys. Just did a clean install of vista 64 bit running full tilt with bells and whistles and it runs like a champ. I haven't seen better FPS on my games. I am still thinking about a video card upgrade.

Onboard sound is very good on the newer MOBO's. Give it a try.....you can always get a sound card later.
If you want a different case and want to sray in the same price range as the Centuriion 5:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119152
Or and Antec that is almost identical and a litle better cooling.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042

Both use bottom mount CPU's.

I would go with the Antec 300 for the case if you want to go for a cheaper case it is basically the 900 before the facelift. The cooler master just does not cut it for a quad core build.

If you are not over clocking or anything like that then the antec and the stock heat sink will be perfect.

If you are thinking about getting into Overclocking and tweaking I would get a thermalright 120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835109125 and a 120mm fan to go with it. i perfer scythe others perfer other fans and heatsinks.

I cannot stress enough the coolermaster is too small which causes air flow problems and thus heat. Others might disagree but I have been through this process with the case you mentioned in your first post.

get some arctic sliver thermal paste for that proc as well.

Finally onboard sound on the ASUS boards is very good. If you are an audio file or a hardcore competative gamer then I would get a sound card but for everyday normal use the on board is awsome.

For video editing and ocational gaming I would go with a

EVGA Nvidia 9800 GTX video card 159 at new egg right now.

As far as the dvd burner I would get what you think you would need. Something Lite-on or LG

a standard DVD-R/W drive will do you nicely. I wouldn't get a blue ray drive just yet.

I concur...

if you do serious video editing, let me know what software and OS you are going to use

The cases I linked to are almost identical. The Antec 300 has a 140MM top mount fan and the Cooler Master has a fan mount on the back side of the case directly behind the CPU.
I have that CM with a 3.0 P4 Prescott heater (stock HSF) and it never gets above 50C under load.

The CM is too cramped for this build. The Antec puts the PSU on the bottom of the case with the 140mm blow hole. Much better air flow in the Antec

The CM, that I linked to, is almost identical to the Antec 300. The PSU is also located at the bottom w/ventilation holes for use with a PSU that uses a 120MM bottom fan and has F & R 120MM fans.

If you do end up getting an aftermarket HSF, you should probably get the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, it is a little bit better than the non extreme version and only a little bit more expensive (it might be cheaper elsewhere, I just gave the petrastechshop link because I know they carry it)
