New build, new card won't work

Intel Core 2 Duo
Asus P5K
4GB DDR2
PC Power and Cooling 750 watt
Power Color HD 4850

I recently build this new build, and i couldn't get a display, so after trying a few things i switched out the video card for a 7600 GT i had laying around, and it booted up fine. I RMA'd the Power Color to Newegg, and they sent me a new one. I tried switching it into the computer, and once again no display. Is there some kind of compatibility issue im missing here?

Thanks

The 4850 is a PCI express 2.0 x16 card. The Asus P5K motherboard has PCI express x16 slots (not 2.0).

This is probably the source of your issue.

Yes, they are. The fact that the card is PCI E 2.0 has nothing to do with your problems. Is there a connector on the card for your power supply?

Double check and make sure your CPU heatsink/fan is installed correctly as instructed.

Try leaving ONLY one stick of memory installed.

heatsink is in right, tried switching out different sticks of memory but the computer still won't display with the ATI card. But it displays fine with the 7600GT thats why I'm so stumped

Are you sure you have the new card installed in the correct slot?

It should be the blue colored PCI-E slot.

What slot are you installing the 7600GT?

Check the BIOS/CMOS setup and see if there is an option to send video to the PCI-E card primarily.

If you have a chance... see if the powercolor card will work in another compatible system. Maybe the 2nd card is bad as well.

Did you uninstall all of the Nvidia drivers and install the ATI drivers?
