ATX12V Keyed Incorrectly?

Just got my power supply, mobo, vid card today; still waiting on the rest of the parts. Anyway, I was examining my psu, which is a corsair tx750. As I'm examining the 8-pin ATX12V connector, I realize it is keyed differently than how it is displayed in my mobo and psu manual.

This may be difficult to comprehend unless you are familiar with these cables, but I'll do my best. The 8 pins in the connection come in two different shapes, square and hexagonal. The picture provided in my manuals show that it should look like this...

[Hex][Square][Square][Hex] <----- Top Row
[Square][Hex][Hex][Square]

But the only 8-pin connector provided with my psu looks like this...

[Hex][Square][Hex][Hex] <------ Top Row
[Square][Hex][Hex][Hex]

I'm quite confused about this, I highly doubt it is keyed incorrectly, as it seems like this would be a major manufacturing error. I know this connection is not the pci-express connection, as my psu doesn't come with a solid 8 pin pci connection. So if anyone could enlighten me, thanks...

I believe so, since a hex should fit into a square hole; I haven't attempted it though and I won't until I have the rest of my parts. If it fits, should I just continue as normal?

A Hex has 6 sides and a Square has 4 sides. A Hes should NOT fit into a square hole.
Could you post the Brand and exact model number of the Motherboard?

It's a Gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p. I posted this question in another thread and included some pics, try taking a look at it if you can, it might help get my point across...

I was hoping this was the case, but amdalex, this won't send incorrect amounts of power to the CPU?

The 8pin connector should be EPS12v compatible and should break away into a 4 pin connector for ATX12v use. It should work fine in either situation.

Right, and the 8-pin connection in question does indeed break away into a 2x2 atx pin. But... are you saying I can use the full 2x4 connection on my GA-EP45-UD3P and it will operate correctly?

I just found a website where someone discussed the issue I was describing here, and he said pretty much what you said amdalex. So, big thanks to you, you're just about the only person who had a better response than "uh I think you are looking at your pci-e connection"
