Question Monitor & Vid Card not Communicating - HELP

I have done the whole build and am ready for the initial boot. I connected the monitor and turned the system on and the system powers, CD drive spins, motherboard lights up, etc. but the monitor does not receive any signal from the tower. I am at a loss. I know the monitor works...am receiving a "no signal" message.

Try chaning the input/source on the monitor.

If that doesn't work: PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

There should be a button on the monitor. It's either input or source. Try pressing that. The monior might switch between digital and analog displays.

If that doesn't work, then follow the link.

So, it is either the motherboard or the vid card. I tried the PCI card that I have and it did not work either. So, I am leaning towards it being a faulty mobo. This feels like a really stupid question, but since this is my first build, I am just going to ask...do I need to do something special (other than connect to power supply) to activate the PCI and PCIE slots? I dont have an extra PCI or PCIE card to test, so I am pretty stuck.
Any thoughts?

Please READ THE LINK. You need to take the motherboard OUT OF THE CASE.

Check the Motherboard to see it supports DDR 3 .If you have DDR 2,replace it to see you can boot up system.

That motherboard takes ddr3.

Do NOT try and use ddr2 with it. It won't work.

DDR3 and DDR2 have different slots - you can't go wrong there.
