I already bought the case for this build. Antec 900.I really wanted to go with the Antec 1200,but 200 dollars on a case is to much imo.

I have never built a pc or overclocked for that matter,but I have been lurking on pc forums for a couple of years.This pc will be dedicated for gaming,and video editing.I tried to find a motherboard that will give me some good options for overclocking.The other decision I made was to go with a 8600 vs the 8500.Ya,the price difference is a big jump,but I have read the 8600's are a 4 gig chip underclocked to 3gigs.I heard that by raising the fsb, this chip can easily hit 4 gigs without making alot of adjustments.

This Set-up is about 1400.00 dollars not including the case.I'm really concerned about oc-ing,and having all my parts play nice together.Do you think I need to overclock to make this a better gaming rig,or are my parts enough to make me happy?

You don't have to overclock at all. If you want to, you can, but it's not necessary.

I would get the e8500. The price increase doesn't seem worth it to me, and if you do overclcok, you can still get a good overclock with the e8500.

Do you really need 2 dvd burners?

Don't forget an OS.

I forgot to mention,I purchased a copy of xp pro 32 bit.I will be running 2 operating systems on this pc.I acquired,for a lack of better words, a copy of xp pro performance edition.This is a cut down version of xp.It takes out all of the bs that would otherwise slow your pc down.I don't play games online,so no need to update security,and all the stuff that keeps us somewhat safe.That's why this cut down version of xp should run extremely faster.Hopefully!

E8500-Thats a good point,but I'm still on the fence over this choice.I could save 100 dollars by opting for the e8500.

The other dvd burner is for my everyday pc.

There is no such thing as a xp pro performance edition.

With the extra $100 you could save on the e8500, get a legal copy of xp and avoid any possibility of problems.

I just wanted to illustrate that you can make your own copy of xp performance edition with a legal copy of xp.I bought a copy of xp,and used an editing program to take away stuff that is not needed for gaming.Sorry.I was not trying to promote piracy.

There is no validation required. This PASSES WGA. This works 100% with Windows Update. I have included the CD-Key already in the install process. This means at no point will you have to enter it. Some people using Macs or Virtual Machines might need the serial. See Serial.txt if you do need it.

The legal program is called N-lite.I stated that I used a bad example to illustrate my point.Yes,It was not a legal torrent,but my point was to give you an example of how to lighten XP.I own a legal copy of xp,and it is not illegal to take parts out of xp that are not needed.

If you had simply said that you trimmed down your legal copy of XP with N-Lite, we would not have had this problem. However, you beat around the bush and called it something else, and posted a procedure that smacked of piracy. Carry on!
