First build went great..but stuck at bluescreen for OS.
Hey guys!
I just followed the PCMech tutorial to do my first build, suuuper happy with the result! Everything is running smoothly and all the hardware respond properly. But I hit my first wall here. After I booted the first time, I inserted my Windows XP cd, and then re-booted. The CD was recognized the second time I booted and went directly into installing Windows XP from CD. But after a while of initializing/analyzing my system, it goes to a blue screen. It says something in the manners of: "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" [...] "Technical Information: pci.sys - Address F748E0BF base at F7487000 datestamp 3b7d8555c" Any idea what it could be? I tried another, older, Win Home CD, but it blue screened at the exact same spot with the same error message. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! EDIT: This is my build by the way: Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R CPU: Intel Q6600 GSU: GeForce 9800 GTS Case: Antec 900 RAM: 4GB G.SKILL DDR2 1066 Cpu fan: Zalman 9500A Harddrive: WD 640GB 7200 rpm DVD: Samsung DVD+R Last edited by verklighet; 01-14-2009 at 02:00 PM. Does your XP CD have at least SP2 already incorporated?

Hey glc!
Yea, just found out about that, I unfortunaley don't have SP2, so I have to get an update and streamline it with the bootdisk so that it boots smoothly. That seems to be the biggest solution out there, hopefully that works, cause I'll be spending money on it heheh. Thanks a lot glc! |
