new upgrade

well here I am again, doing a upgrade for a general pourpose computer.

I am looking at:

asus P5KPL-AM/PS

PENT E2220 2.4ghz DUAL CORE

2 GIG KINGSTON DDR2 (PC2-6400)

old system ia ide so need to have that but willing to go with serial drives if I need to

any thoughts or suggestions

If you don't plan on doing anything but web surfing, and email then that would be ideal bailey...

right, its not ment to be any type of gamming machine, but it would then be closer to up to dat for further improvements later on if desired.

Ram is so cheap, get 4 gigs of Corsair 667 or 800.

The board has one IDE controller, supports 2 drives. Make sure you have a decent ATX 2.x power supply.

Moved to BYOPC.

ok, but I don't see any power supplies on newegg that state that
ATX 2.x number

Most of them are now. For 20 bucks the Antec Basiq 350 will handle onboard video and entry level cards. You just don't want to reuse an old ATX 1.x unit because it won't have enough +12v.

well the upgrade went well and I also built another one with a old case that was stored in the basement.
I bought two of everything and now have two great working computers, one for a nephew and another one for me, which gives me a total so far of 5.
