Deactivated item (on newegg)

was going to purchase this video card but newegg is saying that it is deactivated. Will they get it back in stock or is the video card being discontinued?

I don't think they will be having anymore.

What is your budget?

What games do you plan on playing?

What psu?

Deactivated means that's it.....no more. If the item will be continued they will have an "Auto Notify" button you can click on to give them your e-mail address and they notify you when it is back in stock.

Without knowing what games, the 4870 is a good card.

i keep a wish list of items that I have purchased for my system, easy reference. sometimes the discontinued items do come back but it may take months for it to happen. as for a replacement, get a 4870or a 4850.

I have a Sapphire 4870HD and it plays Crysis smoothly at high setting no AA, I usually get framerates around 20-30fps on a 22" screen at 1680 x 1050 resolution. It never gets above 60 degrees celsius.

i am going to use this computer mostly for 3ds max 2009 and Adobe cs4 (mostly after effects). Games are a second (but yes i would love to be able to play crysis). Also does anyone think Nvidia is better?

Edit update: it came back in stock!!!!!

If you want a GTX 260, which I think is a great card BTW. I would recommend going with the 55nm version.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130448

The difference is small but the newer version of the card is about 10% faster in benches/games, if you already ordered the other one don't worry, the 260 core 216 is a great card.

As for Nvidia being better that is somewhat of a personal preference, right now Nvidia is producing the fastest card out there (GTX 295), but prior to that the Ati 4870 X2 was the best card you could buy. I also agree that the 4870 that amdalex linked to is a great card as well and is very similar in performance to a GTX 260.

For anything but games, I feel ATI has a better display. Nvidia is heavily game-biased.
