Question Budget Gaming Build

My budget: $400-$600

Looking to build a gaming computer with the best components that i can get. What build do you guys suggest i can get with that much money...?

I understand that with that much money i wont be able to get an AMAZING computer, but i want something that will run todays games smoothly. (games like Counter Strike, Call of Duty, etc)

Any more info needed? Just Ask!

I'm a noob at this type of stuff, so thanks in advance!

Do you already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers?

Will that budget include a copy of windows?

$ 575.00

I built one of these for a customer in September and it was perfect out of the gate... You can save 20.00 if you go with a smaller and 16mb cache hard drive (I would stick with 32mb cache). You can also pick up a used CRT monotor for 10.00 to 20.00 bucks all day long. Might get trashed on the case but the customer is happy and it works great.

And the RAM for : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145184

First i want to say thanks for the help.

Now My Questions...

1.) Are you sure everything is compatible?
2.) Would that SAPPHIRE Radeon card be able to run most games smoothly?
3.) How long do u think that card will last me before it gets outdated?
4.) Is it necessary to have a copy of windows XP if i have some cds with operating systems on there?
5.) When i buy those peices, will the wires come with? (uber noob question, but idk)
6.) Does the power supply come built into the case?
7.) Anything else you think i should know?

Note for Question 5:
I mean like wires that connect the peices together, power plugs, etc.

Thanks for the help...

My Questions:
1.) that the best i can get for a harddrive? 160gigs seems rather small...
2.) I'm liking that video card alot, will it last me for awhile? If so, how long?
3.) Power supply comes with the case, right?
4.) Everything is compatible?
5.) Do i need a copy of windows if i already have some CDs with operating systems on there?

If you're building a budget gamer, why are you spending $100 on a case?

That psu isn't good.

Don't forget a dvd burner.

Save some money from the case and get a better power supply.

Same here on the case. You can get a good quality case for less.
For a low cost good quality PSU--Antec Basiq: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371019

Good quality economic cases:
CoolerMaster: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119106
Antec: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042

YES get a different PSU. The Antec I suggested is a good quality low cost unit. Here is a list of good/bad PSU's.:http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

Ok, everything is compatible, like I mentioned, I built one of each and they ran flawless. You could simply choose the hard drive I selected in the first build, either one works. The bigger HD is better, I was just giving you a less expensive option on the second build suggestion. Both video cards will work, I am partial to ATI but they both will do fine on the games you mentioned. Feel free to interchange if you feel the need too. I can only suggest a new copy of an operating system, it sounds as if you have some discs from a proprietary system that would include system drivers etc... I can not tell you to use those and it is not legal. If you have a previous Microsoft OS ONLY disc, simply call Microsoft and tell them that your PC is no longer working (you wouldn't be lying) and they will give you a new key code for your system. Takes about 10 minutes, no big deal.

Someone also suggested a different board and that board is fine as well for the components I suggested, "not important" is a great poster on this board and any of his suggestions are solid. I was simply giving you an experienced suggestion based on the info you require, I trust "not important" had great success with the same components, he is a great resource and his experience brings great value to this board.

the case you were considering is a great case... it is actually the one I use in my high end build. If the customer is willing to pay for it, I usually have three in stock to satisfy them. I like your line of thinking, buy a great case, and upgrade at a later date. You are very intelligent. That case might last you a lifetime if they don't change the form factors... they will will though and that piece of perfection will be obsolete.
