My budget: $400-$600
Looking to build a gaming computer with the best components that i can get. What build do you guys suggest i can get with that much money...? I understand that with that much money i wont be able to get an AMAZING computer, but i want something that will run todays games smoothly. (games like Counter Strike, Call of Duty, etc) Any more info needed? Just Ask! I'm a noob at this type of stuff, so thanks in advance! Last edited by kinggame134; 01-23-2009 at 11:51 PM. |

Do you already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers?
Will that budget include a copy of windows?

$ 575.00
I built one of these for a customer in September and it was perfect out of the gate... You can save 20.00 if you go with a smaller and 16mb cache hard drive (I would stick with 32mb cache). You can also pick up a used CRT monotor for 10.00 to 20.00 bucks all day long. Might get trashed on the case but the customer is happy and it works great. It currently doesnt, but if it did, what type of moniter/keyboard/mouse do u suggest i purchase? Quote:
Now My Questions... 1.) Are you sure everything is compatible? 2.) Would that SAPPHIRE Radeon card be able to run most games smoothly? 3.) How long do u think that card will last me before it gets outdated? 4.) Is it necessary to have a copy of windows XP if i have some cds with operating systems on there? 5.) When i buy those peices, will the wires come with? (uber noob question, but idk) 6.) Does the power supply come built into the case? 7.) Anything else you think i should know? Note for Question 5: I mean like wires that connect the peices together, power plugs, etc. Quote:
My Questions: 1.) that the best i can get for a harddrive? 160gigs seems rather small... 2.) I'm liking that video card alot, will it last me for awhile? If so, how long? 3.) Power supply comes with the case, right? 4.) Everything is compatible? 5.) Do i need a copy of windows if i already have some CDs with operating systems on there? Mind telling me from where? Quote:

If you're building a budget gamer, why are you spending $100 on a case?
That psu isn't good. Don't forget a dvd burner. Save some money from the case and get a better power supply. |

Same here on the case. You can get a good quality case for less.
For a low cost good quality PSU--Antec Basiq: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371019 |

Good quality economic cases:
CoolerMaster: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119106 Antec: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042 YES get a different PSU. The Antec I suggested is a good quality low cost unit. Here is a list of good/bad PSU's.:http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195 |

Someone also suggested a different board and that board is fine as well for the components I suggested, "not important" is a great poster on this board and any of his suggestions are solid. I was simply giving you an experienced suggestion based on the info you require, I trust "not important" had great success with the same components, he is a great resource and his experience brings great value to this board. |

the case you were considering is a great case... it is actually the one I use in my high end build. If the customer is willing to pay for it, I usually have three in stock to satisfy them. I like your line of thinking, buy a great case, and upgrade at a later date. You are very intelligent. That case might last you a lifetime if they don't change the form factors... they will will though and that piece of perfection will be obsolete.
