Sound card

I built a new quad core system last spring and it's worked fabulously up til now. A recent patch to my favorite game changes how it handles in game sounds and I find my system locking up with certain events. So, I've been doing some basic research on a sound card to add to my system. I'm willing to fork over a couple hundred to get my system working right and have narrowed it down to: Asus Xonar dx2 or Auzentech Prelude 7.1.

I'm just curious if anyone else has installed a sound card with their recent build and has had a good experience with it.

My only other concern is that I currently use Vista as my OS but will likely convert to Windows 7 down the road and the above cards seem tailored to Vista. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

From what I have read, anything that works in vista will have no problems working with windows 7.

If you want to try and fix your sound problem, please give us more details. What mb are you using (if onboard audio).

What you have done to try and fix the problem already.

Hey Svaneyk, I work with the Windows Outreach Team, I would like to invite you to take a look at the Windows compatibility sites review of sound cards. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...=Sound%20Cards
The Windows 7 team is working hard to make sure that as much of the Vista compatible software/hardware drivers will be compatible in Windows 7. It is inevitable that there will be some hardware or software applications might not work right away in Windows 7. It is recommended that you visit you visit your PC’s manufacture site and that of any hardware device if there is a problem and make sure you download the latest drivers they release for Win7. To be honest, the Windows Team is working to reduce the same sort of incompatibility issues that many people experienced with the release of Vista. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask.
Rick, Windows Outreach.
