Building a New all around PC

Hi Everyone,

Am building my first PC from scratch and need advice. I want an all around PC eg. Gaming, Video Editing, TV Tuner, Blue Ray, Word Processing, etc... I just put in an ATI HD 4850 Video card in my old unit before it crashed, so this will go in the new PC. So, this is what has been suggested to me by my supplier so far:

Asus M3N78-VM Mother Board
Nvidia NV GF 8200 Chipset
AMD Phenom x64 9950 processor
4gb ddr2 1066mhz Reaper HPC edition ram
Seagate 500gb 32mb cache HD
Antec Nine Hundred Gaming case
Thermal Take Toughpower 600w power supply sli/crossfire ready
DVD RW
Blueray
TV Tuner

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

What is your budget?

Are you in the US?

Here is a basic starting point:

MB: Asus P5Q
CPU: Q9550
Ram: G. Skill 2x2gb DDR2-800
HD: Western Digital caviar black 500gb sata
DVD: BLueray drive
PSU: Corsair 650
Case: whatever you like. I prefer the antec 300 over the 900 now.

Hi,

I'm in Canada. Budget is not an problem. Just want to do it right the first time. I'm leaning to going with the AMD 9950 CPU, I was just wondering if I had the right MOBO and everything else.

Well I like the AMD choice but if you are using both AMD CPU and GPU why would you not just get a AMD chipset on the motherboard? I would recommend MSI or ASUS 790FX.
