Checks
I am not sure this is the right place, but not sure which one is. I just got my work computer back. There were some messed up capacitors (one had been leaking.) My computer wouldn't boot, nor even see the new hard drive I decided to install. I didn't want to replace the motherboard (app $400) or get a new computer just yet. He installed a controller card and so far, so good.
Anyhow, what I would like to know are some favorite tests here that I can use to check out the system. These would include memory, motherboard operation as well as how the other parts, cards, hardware etc are doing. As far as other hard drives, I know the drive manufacturer has one. I might also want to check security and the like. I used to use both Symantecs and McAfee's online checks. Any other tips on checking out the machine to make sure all is well? For that matter, I would want to check out others as well. |

Thanks. I have heard it mentioned here and just got through reading GLC recommending it on another thread due to it having all of the drive makers utilities and wondered were to find it. Cool!
