Logon process has failed
Well my first computer build was going great and now I'm running into some issues. I'm not sure if they are related or not, but here are the symptoms. First, my computer locked up and I couldn't even get ctrl-alt-delete to get to the task manager..just froze up. So I had to power off with the power button. The computer would not start up (looking back it would have if I had left it for 10 mins) so I ran windows repair and started from the vista disc. That worked and my computer finally started.
My computer was working fine before and now... - Computer freezes up at times - If I try to access the task manager or at other times the computer freezes, screen turns black with the exception of the cursor, and sometimes is followed by "logon process has failed to create the security options dialog." press ok and it returns to vista -shutdown always goes to black screen with cursor for several minutes before shutdown -startup takes 10 minutes, boots from windows, goes to black screen for 5 min, then welcome screen, then to black screen with task bar for 2 minutes and finally starts Other searches seem to link all the above to one problem. I've seen people relating it to HDD and others to Norton. I've got both. Suggestions? |

Start by uninstalling Norton.
Please post full specs, including brand and model of the power supply. |

Full Specs...
MOBO - eVGA nForce 780i SLI FTW CPU - Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 Power Supply - CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 650W (RS-650-ACAA-A1) GPU - eVGA GeForce 9500GT HDD - Seagate 500GB 16MB SATA HD (ST3500641AS-RK) Optical Drive - LG GH223LS30 DVD Norton is now uninstalled. I need to reboot a few times more and see what problems I continue to have...the error message has not repeated itself, but the problems have continued. I'm debating reinstalling Vista and starting fresh since I haven't really created any new files on this computer and it would be an easy process. |

I reinstalled Vista. All is well for now. Back to loving my new build. I'll let you know if the problem resurfaces. Fingers crossed.
