What RAM to use with this Mobo

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Im building a new computer and want 4gb of RAM in it which is the best to use with this Mobo?

Also any suggestions on a good complete build for around $1000 without monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers primarily for playing games like WoW? Im sorry for asking im sure its a common question. It would be nice to just know what to buy and then put it all together. Thanks in advance.

If you want decent RAM use this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122

it will work fine.

I can't put together a complete build for you at the moment as I'm busy.

Im sure anyone else would though.

MB: Asus p5q
CPU: E8500
Ram: 2x2bg ddr2-800 cas 5 (The one linked to would work nice)
HD: Western Digital 500gb Caviar Black sata
DVD: Lite-on/asus/lg dvd burner sata
Video: 4850
psu: Corsair 650
Case: your choice
OS: vista hp 64.

That should be close to your budget.

No. It depends on the cost, and what cards are out right now. I think for the value, the 4850 is great. When you start looking at higher cards, I'm more geared towards nvidia's newer 295 cards.

Because of the price for performance, I usually start with the 4850 as a base recommendation. I think the 9600gt might be close to it as well.

Get the caviar black hard drive. It comes with a 5 year warranty instead of 3.

Don't forget the operating system.

I would look at the antec 300 case as well. See if you like that.

araldo,
With these guys help, I just built this rig in my sig. Very close to what you are looking for. Change out the cpu to the E8400 if you don't want/need quad and if you need to shave off a few bucks ($45), go with the Saphire 4830. Almost the same as the 4850 and can be easily clocked up to the 4850 speed. (so I am told). I really like the P5Q Pro MB. Nice layout of slots and you still have 4 expansion slots (2pci and 2 pcie) when you lose one alongside the vid card.

TT, I was just pointing out my build, which you all helped me with, is very close to what he was looking for, except for the Quad.

The antec 300 is not better, it's just different. I personally like it a bit more than my 900. It is smaller, seems to be a bit more quiet, not blue leds, no window, and it has screens for the fans to catch the dust. It also seems to be a bit better for cable management.

It's just another option to consider.

either case is good.

The 9600GT is nowhere near close to the 4850's performance; the 9600GT is more like a HD3850 or HD4670. A nvidia counterpart to the 4850 would be the 9800GTX+.

9600GT is pretty close to the 4830 in terms of performance.

When installing the OS, do NOT connect the card reader or any external devices that will be seen as a removable drive. Wait till Windows is installed.

Will the card reader be the only thing that I have in my setup that will do that?

9600GT is about the same as the HD3850 and HD4670 (320 shader processors) while the HD4830 has 640 shader processors and is closer to the performance of the 9800GT. If you are using low resolution and/or low shader quality, you won't really notice the performance difference between them, however once you start using high resolution and/or high shader quality the performance difference between the cards becomes clear.

The card reader definitely will upset the apple cart - so would a printer that has a card reader or a USB input port. I generally recommend for OS install, the only drives that should be connected are the main hard drive, the optical used for install, and a floppy (if applicable). The only peripherals that should be connected are keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

Reason? The removable drives will steal drive letters, and the OS partition will not be "C". This causes issues. Once the OS is installed, it will be locked in to "C" and you can connect whatever you want.

The difference between the 9600GT and 4830 is hardly 9000fps though, on Crysis Warhead the average FPS has only a 3 frame difference (38 to 41).
