What can i reuse?

I'm thinking about building my computer for the first time. I want it to be good, specifically for gaming, but I'd rather not spend too much on it. I have two computers, one maybe 3 years old and one closer to 5. Id prefer to keep the newer one intact. I was wondering what parts I could use from my older computer (besides the obvious mouse, keyboard, speakers). I might buy a new case but I'm not sure. Any other advice is welcome. Thanks

edit: forgot to mention I would like to run a pretty nice video card, Geforce 9800 GT preferably, so that would also affect the psu I would need. None of the psu's in either of my two computers have enough power to run a high quality video card.

second edit: Also considered just upgrading my dell Optiplex GX620 (the one thats about 3 years old). Can I just upgrade the psu and the video card, or will they still not function to their best due to other older parts of the computer?

Depending on the parts, you might be able to keep the dvd drive, and hard drive.
