Quietest case?
What is the quietest case around? I am thinking of building a machine for my recording studio and my top priority is silence. I know about these two:
Antec P182 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=Antec%20P182 Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119138 Any others people know of? Has anyone else here built a machine for a recording studio? If so, what case did you use? Thanks. |

I've used the NZXT Hush and it is really quiet: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146035

Thanks for the replies. Are either of you using these machines in a recording studio (or as a DAW in a home studio)?
Masaki - I notice in your sig you have a Cooler Master 1000 - how quiet is it and how does it compare to the NZXT Hush? Thanks. |

I've been using the cases for gaming computers (one of the reasons I got the quieter cases is because I wanted less interference with the sound). It's a bit difficult to compare since I've have different hardware in the case (higher end components in the Coolermaster Cosmos and higher airflow), however I found the NZXT Hush to be quieter since unlike the Coolermaster Cosmos 1000 which has sound dampening foam only on the side panels, the NZXT Hush has sound dampening foam on the side panels, the roof, floor and the back side of the front bezel's expansion slots.

I have just installed everything into an Antec 300 and I find the case very quiet. I have the 2 stock case fans (1 - 120mm & 1 - 140mm)

My two ANTEC 300s are more quiet than my P182.
You wouldn't think it would be that way. There is a lot of resonance in the P182 I have found. P182 is a good case though - don't get me wrong there.

For me one of the pro's for the P182 is the fold back door. I needed a door that hinged on the left and having it double hinged so it folds back flat is a big plus for me.
I found the P182 to be fairly quiet, guieter than my Antec P160 it replaced. To get a truly quiet computer you need quiet components. Fanless video card, fanless cpu heatsink, quiet hard drives and big slow speed fans with good bearings. The only thing I hear in my P182 is the video card and cpu cooler fan. Check out endpcnoise.com for more ideas on building a quiet pc.
