Building New Computer For Mom....

OK, my mother has an old Dell computer (about 6 or 7 yrs old). I'm building her a new computer but have one question.

I'm sure her drive is IDE and probably 5400rpm. However, I would like to hook it up to the new system simply to clone it to a new SATA drive. Now most new motherboards are SATA. Is their a way to "connect" her drive to a SATA board such as this one?

Thank you,

Are you familiar with the term "drivers?" The old drive is full of all the wrong drivers to go in a new machine...You can in theory, go a repair install to get the new drivers installed - but should really consider going a fresh install of the OS.

OK, so assuming I do a new clean install, how do I get the info (files, e-mail, etc.) from the old to the new?

This is usually the recommended product for this type of work:

The Apricorn is a very nice device and comes with cloning/backup software (rebranded Acronis TrueImage).
