is it ok...

to take your pc's side panel off while the computer is on and not touch anything or not?

I've done that when i was doing work on it, and just got too lazy to put it back on for a few weeks.

running this asus p4c800 on the bench, man this thing is full of it. WOW, this board has been abused.. very nice board

Just be aware that you could collect more dust, pet hair, etc inside the case when it is open.

Your temperatures will look better though.

Doesn't it depend on the case? My hard drives run hotter when my case is open because the path of the cooling air changes and does not go past the drives.
Its my belief that if your computer runs cooler with the sides off, you don't have the right fans or they are not in the right place.
I take my case side off and put it on while the pc is running. Like shadow, at times it stays off for awhile when I forget about it.

My PC runs cooler with the case closed too. Its also probably a good idea to have them on anyway cos my PC sits right next to my feet.
