Optical drive doesn't work
Hi,
I've recently build a PC and for some reason the optical drive, which as been working fine for the past 4 or 5 month, doesn't appear anymore. And it doesn't even open when I press the eject button or anything. I've taken it out and hooked it back up, and it hasn't done anything at all. Does any body has any idea? Any chance you have another comp you could try that drive in? Or try a known good drive in its place? It's not out of the question for an optical drive to crap out in a short time frame. What's the warranty on the drive?

Samsung optical drives do not have a stellar reliability record to begin with.

If you replace the drive..get LG or Lite-On. Both are much more reliable than Samsung.

Thanks guys,
I was hoping there could be some OS stuff I would have to twik, but yeah it seams like tying on another one is the best thing to do at this point. Thanks for the help, and thanks for the brand suggestions. |
