Exclamation Need Help designing a gaming/slash media PC

I have searched and searched and there are so many options and contradicting information out on the web. I plan to purchase a build to order PC online as I don't have the technical know how to do it myself nor the desire really.
I will be using my HDTV as my monitor via HDMI/DVI cable and RCA cables for sound. Are there different qualities of cables? I want the best resolution I can get and plan on getting a blue ray player in the computer. Would also like a DVD buner. The computer will be used for gaming, media and normal pc tasks, surfing the web etc. I do run multiple programs at once. I would like to stick with windows XP is at all possible but if vista is the wave of the future I'll do what I have to. I have been playing around building my pc on cyberpowerpc.com but really have no confidence in my decisions. I have a budget of roughly 1k plus or minus 300. Here is one I can up with on Cyberpowerpc. Also they have a 5% off deal right now I'd like to jump on while I can. Any help is greatly appreciated as I am at a complete loss even after a couple days of research. Please feel free to make your own suggestions but it's easier if you suggest an entire system rather than single components because I don't know what is compatible with what. Thank you so much for all the help.

I don't care for online PC builders. They tend to cut corners on important hardware.
I would suggest building your own or take your business to a local PC shop where you can be sure of what you are getting and be confident it will function properly.

Unless you have a library of HD DVDs, you dont need the blu ray/ HD DVD player. HD DVD is dead. You will save money by getting just a blu-ray player. You can get a blu-ray player that also burns DVDs and CDs.
