Raid

I've just built my first computer and I am using one of my old hard drives. I would like to purchase another HDD and use the RAID 0 setting with my new motherboard. Do you have to have exactly the same brand/type/speed(rpm)/etc. to run these drives in RAID?

Technically they don't have to match to work, but when speed is the goal (RAID 0) I wouldn't suggest it. One thing to look into, is that if you are using an older drive, using a single new drive may be a huge performance increase as it is, then you can use your old drive for storage or put it in an external case and use it for backup purposes.

Buy two new identical drives.

Why even use RAID? Keep it simple.
