Hey guys. I just put in a new gigabyte motherboard into my build, and everything except one thing works fine. I get post, and can even load into windows, but my cpu fan is broken!
It will start spinning very slowly, and then stop. Sometimes it starts up again, but then stops, like it's not getting enough power. I plugged in the 24-pin main mobo power, as well as the 8-pin extra one. My psu has 2 4-pins, so i just plugged both of them in. whats wrong? update: i've got it to turnover constantly but speedfan reports 38 rpm... Last edited by Studio2LH; 04-03-2009 at 08:18 PM. |

it turns out my new motherboard's fan control was messed up! It was trying to run the fan at 50 rpm... which apparently wasn't enough juice to keep it spinning. After i installed drivers it worked fine. I'm glad it worked well enough passively to keep it working until i could install drivers.
I hope this helps anyone with a similar problem. =D |
