Fans will not shut off......
I just finished my computer build and am sorting out some minor problems.
One that I cannot seem to solve is this: In turning off the computer for the night, when I shut down my computer, Windows closes and the hard drives stop. The indicator light for the hard drive goes out as well. The rear case fan stops. All normal. The blue light around the front bezel of the on/off button stays lit however, and the 2 front case fans continue to run. These 2 fans (92mm) are plugged into the power supply supply for their power. The rear 120mm case fan (which has stopped) is plugged into the motherboard. I have to push in and hold the button for 5 seconds to shut down the fans. I know this is not correct. Anyone have an idea of what I did wrong or a solution? Thanks for any suggestions...........pg My machine parts are: Case: Antec Solo Motherboard: MSI K9N2GM CPU: AMD Athlon 5400 X2 2.8GHz Dual Core (2) W/D 750 SATA HD PSU: Antec Basiq BP550 Plus (1) Antec 120mm Tricool case fan at rear (2) Antec 92mm Tricool case fans in the front |

Did you check your power off setting in the BIOS?

I just went to the Bios and the setting choice is OFF or SUSPEND. It is set to OFF.
Thanks for the suggestion. I thought maybe the motherboard or the power supply may have a feature that allows the fans to run a few minutes longer to cool things down. That idea went out the window when the fans were still running 10 minutes after shut down. I asked a buddy about that and he says he's never heard of such a feature. Got me puzzled for sure......... pg |

Try a different power supply connector for those fans.
The easy way to fix it is turn the power supply off with the rocker switch. |

GLC.....
OK thanks, I will try that. The power supply has a couple more outlet connections on it so I will plug a cable into one of those and connect the fans to that cable. We will see what happens........ pg |
