Specs For New Build, Any Suggestions?
here is the parts list for my new build. before I buy wanted to run this by the forum and see if anyone had any suggestions or opinions on any of the hardware here.

Plextor optical drives are not made by Plextor anymore. You would do better with LG or Lite-On.

XFX is junk. I wouldn't touch them with a 100' stick.
I recommend Asus, Sapphire or Diamond for an ATI video card.

thanks to Khalil and N.I. for their info .. I really want to know what everyone here thinks is a good i7 motherboard. it seems all have had some mixed reviews from newegg. anyone care to chime in on this one?

Also, for the case, I'd recommend an Antec 300 if you want an easy place to lower the cost. You can save around $60 based on current Newegg prices.
I had originally planned on buying an Antec 900 as well for my recent upgrade but I read in one of the reviews that it's almost identical to the Antec 300, just flashier with a see-through side panel. I went with the Antec 300 and am extremely satisfied. Very roomy, excellent air circulation and gives you the option of installing 3 more 120mm fans in addition to the 2 fans it already has. My machine runs very cool even in hot weather (only the GPU ever broke 40 C, everything else was well below). It's also extremely easy to work with during initial build and gives you easy access to the interior even after you've finished. Last edited by ddragon625; 05-01-2009 at 01:59 AM. |

thanks for the heads up dragon ... I actually already bought the antec case around xmas. I got it for $75 on sale, so it was a good steal. it's been sitting in my closet begging me to use it haha
