no budget Motherboard ATX with good onboard graphics, hdmi, Don't worry about a case, it is going to be custom built. great sound |

Is this going to be a standard HTPC (basically a normal PC connected to a TV), or will it be used to watch TV (Antenna, Cable, Satellite, ect.) and/or used for more advanced optical formats such as Blu-ray? Is the sound going to be streamed over HDMI or will optical/coax/analog connections be used?

Here is a parts list for htpc amd build (assuming you have the processor and case; would recommend using a MCE OS such as XP MCE, Vista HP, or Vista Ultimate; there are also Linux options, however I'm not that familiar with them):
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive - OEM (I think the Green might be more appropriate for the HTPC as it is quieter and produces less vibration, however the warranty is only 3 years) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136284 $104.99 ASUS M4A78-E AM2+/AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131368 $134.99 Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1800 MCE Kit 1128 PCI-Express x1 Interface - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116015 $99.99 Antec earthwatts EA430 430W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.0 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371006 $54.99 G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166 $58.99 LITE-ON Black Blu-Ray DVD Drive & DVD Burner with LightScribe SATA Model iHES206-08 - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106277 $99.99 Subtotal: $553.94 |
