Are these parts compatible?

Hey everyone,

This is my first post, as well as my first attempt at building a PC. After doing some pretty extensive research, I've come up with the following parts for a build. Can someone let me know if any of the parts are incompatible / or have problems together?

I did as much research on my own as possible, and I believe everything should be okay. Just looking for a couple of second opinions

ASUS M4A79T-Deluxe

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GH

EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (216 core)

OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR3

WD Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM HD

Antec 900 Case

Antec TruePower New TP-750 Blue 750W PSU

LG CD/DVD Writer

Besides things like mouse, keyboard, monitor and OS, is there anything I need to add to this list? I'm not interested in overclocking currently, but I thought the ability to use DDR3 in the future would be a good thing.

Total is approx. $1000

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Okay, I changed the memory because I can save about $30. The new chips are

Corsair 4GB DDR3

The Asus mobo manual indicates these are supported.

Theres no point in getting a 10KPRM HDD. Most people recommend a WD caviar black. Heres the 500GB one:

I have heard good reviews about this also:

Rest of the list looks good

Tomtoon,

I was planning on getting a WD Caviar 1TB Black as a second hdd and using the Raptor as a Windows boot drive. Is there no advantage to this?

Well if the Raptor is the boot drive, go for it. I thought the WD was a storage drive(silly me).
It will boot faster of course with the extra 2.8k RPM.

Awesome! I figured it would, but I'm glad to have confirmation.

I just ordered everything from newegg. I'm excited!

read the sticky thread before you build, not if you run into problems... prevent them.

I have a lot of failures with Raptor hard drives. The Black are better drives.

The Caviar Blacks are just as fast as a first generation Raptor and run a lot cooler and quieter. There is a lot more to a drive's speed than just spindle speed. The Raptor has half the cache of the Black, and it's not a SATA II drive.
