Can Windows XP be used again???
When I build my next computer can I use the XP software (disk) again??? I bought the CD and I assume I registered it (can't recall for sure) after loading it into my first build. I will be deconstructing the first build as the new one is being done. Don't know if that makes any difference.
Please let me know anything you think I should consider in this matter. Thanks, Kent |

You can only use it if you no longer use the current install. One license per copy.

You should have no problem transferring it to a new machine. It will activate online as long as the last activation was more than 120 days prior, and you haven't already activated it an "excessive" number of times. Legally, you will need to remove it from the old machine, just wipe the old hard drive when you have gotten all your data transferred to the new machine.

Thanks
Thank you both for the reply. I'll be back with more questions as I start the new build.

Not sure how close you are to actually starting building, but follow these directions to avoid a bunch of potential headaches: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=168456
