Third Build - Opinions =]
Well, my first build was done at the age of 13... I was suprised it lasted so long, it was 4 years ago (check my topics created, I haven't seen whether the links still work). Oh and my computer's PSU blew up... so
.Anyway, since then I built a computer for my friend, and that seemed fine. However this time I've decided to go with a website that offer a building service for the components you chose for a small sum, they also offer an insurance and warranty with this service. Here are my chosen components, my budget is £1500 and I already have a 22" Samsung Widescreen monitor. Intel Core i7-920 D0 Stepping CPU http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...tid=bx80601920 Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Motherboard http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...ib7u0-g0eay00z 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black 3.5" Hard Disk Drive http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...14&tid=gsearch 650W Corsair CMPSU-650TXUK Power Supply http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...88&tid=gsearch Asus Radeon HD 4890 1GB http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...4890/htdi/1gd5 6GB Corsair XMS3 1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Kit http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...d=tr3x6g1600c8 Lian-Li PC-V1010B Black Midi Tower http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...99&tid=gsearch Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme 1366RT http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...42&tid=gsearch LiteOn IHAS422-31 22x DVDRW http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...tid=ihas422-31 This comes to around £1,201.31 with the Custom Building service of £50 it ends up to £1,251.31. So any suggestions with what to do with the extra £300 is also welcome with open arms. Motherboard changed from Gigabyte X58 on glc/khalil's suggestions. Graphics Card changed from XFX on glc's suggestion also .(glc helped me with my old build also, he's been great help )

I don't see any reason in your build for the Deluxe V2 board, unless there's something you didn't say. I would step it back to the standard Asus P6T (http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...ib720-g0eay00z) and save a few bucks.
Looks great though. /jealous Last edited by vtfanmv5; 05-29-2009 at 10:44 AM. |

Also since I have the money saved up for it, I thought the extra few quid wouldn't hurt .

I know you like the sound of the other site because they build it and the warranty etc, but since you are older now, I should think you could easily manage it. Have you checked other sites to buy from? Personally I've never heard of them and I always seem to find the cheapest:
www.novatech.co.uk www.ebuyer.com or www.overclockers.co.uk I know that when I did my build I probably saved around £30 by checking which was cheapest. So definitely worth adding all the components on all sites and checking totals including postage. Hope this is of some help

Bump
Also, I'm wondering other than the CPU cooler, any other extra cooling I might require? Last edited by Shabz; 06-12-2009 at 04:07 AM. |

As long as the case you get has a fan or two (almost all of them do), you'll be fine. Also, an extra CPU cooler isn't necessary unless you plan on overclocking, and using anything other than the fan that comes with the CPU will void the warranty.
I second Devastator's suggestion that you build it yourself. All the components will carry warranties from the manufacturer (some up to 3 or 5 years).

Tom, we did it that way for a reason - Scan is out of stock on the 1 TB Blacks. You want a Black for the OS drive, a Green is fine for a storage drive.
