ASUS Mobo: Maximus Extreme vs. P5Q Pro Turbo

Hi,
I'm building my first computer and am trying to pick a motherboard. I have been recommended ASUS and have gotten it down to two. The Maximus Extreme X38 and the P5Q Pro Turbo.
Now I just need to decide which one to get. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. Thanks

Well what ram do you have?

One takes ddr3, the other takes ddr2.

I know I was going to decide this and then base my RAM choice around that. Prices aside completely, which one would be better suited for gaming?
I'll be using CPU: Intel Core Duo E8400 3.0 Ghz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115037
and graphics card: XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150352

Why not just get the p5q, or p5q pro.

They would be a good choice.

None of those boards will make much difference when it comes to gaming.

Any comments/suggestions?

Another option is to change the MOBO to: ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131377

Which of course would mean I would have to change to DDR2 RAM but that doesn't matter I've got some picked out for that.

So what do you guys think???

Any of the P45-based P5Q's that take DDR2 memory, whichever one has the features you want.

Threads merged, please keep all questions on one build in one thread.

P45 and DDR2 as glc stated is the way to go with the E8400. DDR3 is simply a waste of money and that X38 chip set is as reliable as Yugo.

MAXIMUS is overkill.
You don't need all of those extra bells and whistles.
Go with the P45 like the others have suggested.
