First pc build(college pc)

I've decided to get a desktop for college and to also get a netbook for taking notes and such in classes. I could always buy a pc from a known company, but I thought that it would be more fun and possibly less expensive to make my own pc.

Since I'm buying the netbook and a desktop, I would like my pc build to be around $700-$800 max. This includes monitor, keyboard, OS, etc.

Basically I want to make a pc that will last me through college and allow me to play most modern games on it.

Here's what I have so far

[B]Motherboard[B]
ASUS M4A78 Plus AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard $79.99

Graphics Card
SAPPHIRE 100245HDMI Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card $94.95 w/ discount

case and power supply
Antec Sonata III 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply $109.99

hard drive
HITACHI Deskstar P7K500 HDP725050GLA360 (0A35415) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM $49.99

RAM
Kingston HyperX T1 Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory $54.99

monitor
Still looking-- the previous monitor I was looking at was open box from newegg.

headphones(or speakers)
PLANTRONICS GameCom 377 Open-ear 3.5mm Circumaural Gaming Headset $49.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826265065

dvd/cd drives
I can probably just salvage some from an older computer. If not, a dvd/cd drive shouldn't be too expensive.

keyboard mouse
haven't looked at these components. I'll probably have to get cheaper ones to stay one budget.

OS
vista 64 bit home premium $99.99

Please give any advice you can on what parts I could change to cut corners or improve my build.

Please look into a WD Black hard drive instead of the Hitachi, Hitachi are ok on low end machines that are used for data base but they are loud and fail quick on gaming and high end computers. I love Kingston but HyperX is over rated. Go with their Value Ram series. Everything else looks good.

Ok. I'll look for a better hard drive and some different RAM. Either way, I think I'll still be able to stay on budget. I haven't referenced many sites for the build except for newegg so I might be able to find some better prices(who knows).

Also, for teh valueRAM from kingston. Does it matter which specific version of their 2X2 gig 800 MHz I buy? Because there are a lot of choices.

Use the configurator on the Kingston site for best match.
