Windows Home Server Build

Hi All,

I would like to build a Windows Home Server for my home network, and would really appreciate your expertise. I seem to remember a thread some time ago in which Panama Red outlined a very affordable WHS system for someone, but I can't seem to locate it in the archives. I realize that the minimum specs outlined on the Microsoft website are nothing spectacular, but I want the system to be very stable and efficient on power consumption. Here is a preliminary list that I've put together.

Do you see any compatibility issues, suggestions, or areas that are overkill?

Cheers!

IDE DVD is fine with that motherboard - but a SATA would be a neater installation.

I'd probably put a E5200 processor in it.

Those Intel E5xxx are really good. Very close to the C2D in performance on most applications.

Thanks guys. I don't know how I left the processor out. I had the E7200 in the back of my mind, but I'll add the E5200 as you recommend.

My thinking with going with the IDE drive was to save the 2 remaining SATA ports for additional hard drives down the road (just in case). Theoretically, I'll only need the drive once to load the OS. I wish I had an old junker laying around somewhere!
