Dell beater

Might have to build a new PC for parents, no gaming, no overclock etc, and just want to try and beat the dell price of £330 for the cheapest Intel system.

So far I have picked out:

ASUS P5Q

E5200 (2.5GHz 2MB Cache)

Corsair 2x1GB 667MHz

OCZ 500W Mod XStream
(Noticed evopower and gamexstream were more recommended in the PSU thread but any know what these are like?)

PNY 8400GS

Seagate 80GB HD 8Mb Cache

Sony DVD-RW SATA

Plan to use old case and a copy of XP I have to hand.

Total: £299.40

Hows it sound?

You can also go with a lot lower power PSU with onboard video - 300 watts is all you need.

The Basiq are not made by Sea Sonic, can't vouch for their quality, I used very few in the past not had any fail yet but..
This might be a better choice http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152505 I believe these are made by channel well.

The Antec Basiq is an excellent low cost choice, it's made by FSP.

All the onboard VGA options are mATX, which seems a bit odd. Onboard is good enough these days for all flash etc?

Is 350w/400w really enough? Don't know if any of you have read my other thread, but half the plan is to get a new PSU first to see if this were to fix the problem, and if not be used in a new build.

Also the current laser printer is on a big parallel port cable.. I think. Seems like no mobo's come with that these days. Can you get converters to USB?

Yes, onboard is good enough for everything except gaming and really heavy video editing/rendering. 300 watts is PLENTY for onboard video. The P5KPL-CM has a parallel port. Micro ATX boards fit in a standard case, and it's all you need for a general use machine, everything is onboard (video, sound, LAN). The P5KPL-CM does have a PCI-Ex16 slot if you want to add a video card later for whatever reason.

Changed to the 350W Antec Basiq, may aswell leave 50W headroom?

Got rid of the 8400.

Changed to the P5KPL-CM, this is the right one, right?

Total is down to £192.76. Wow tbh, never thought would be able to go that low.
