Link is not working, if the other Ram works that would idicate the Corsair is defective and need to be sent back.

This is our standard recommendation: PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

If from there, you try each stick individually and only one works, then you know it's bad. If neither work, but some other ram works, then you know both sticks you have are bad.

Yes shadowpr, thanks for joining in. I was following the standard recommendation link you posted above, the problems occured after I used a small screwdriver to short the power switch.
First there was a display ,but after connecting the case speaker and some parts,no more display on the monitor, just constant short beeping . then cpu fan stopped for about 3 seconds and resumed running again all by itself but still no video, only the short constant beeps,I tried single ram, double ram, swtched rams in different slots,no changed.

Didn't think was the ram,I thought it was the board till the board was replaced with the same model and encounterd the same issues, that's when I replaced the ram, resulting in just a single beep and display output success twice.
I'll continue the build tomorrow, just to test the other parts. I don't think vista 64bit can be installed with just currently installed 2x256 ddr2.

That defective ram is less than a month old, hope get a refund to purchase a different ram.
Thanks again

Update: Out of PC case build was successful so I installed all parts inside the case exerpt G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB), shipment in transit. However, this HDD Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM is not being detected correctly in the bios/cmos?

This is first screen info:
Pri. master Disk:None
Pri. slave Disk :None
Sec. master Disk:LBA,SATA,160GB
Sec. slave Disk: DVD-RW-SATA.

CMOS Setup Utility
IDE Channel 0 Master None
IDE Channel 0 Slave None
IDE Channel 1 Master WDC WD1600AAJS-00L7A
IDE Channel 1 Slave HL-DT-STD DVD-RAM-GH22

How can I make the HDD be detected as Pri. master disk or IDE Channel 0 master?

Thanks.

You would have to connect it to the other ide channel on the mother board.

It's a SATA drive, and it is showing up where it's going to show up. Don't worry about it, it doesn't make any difference at all. Channel 0 is the actual IDE controller, which you aren't using.

Whoops. I missed the part about it actually being a sata drive.

Thanks guys,I've already moved the sata cable to a different slot and it now shows up as Pri. master on IDE 0 channel and dvd as a Sec. master.Should I change it back as before?

Also. "current cpu temp",in bios/cmos reads 34-35*c when "CPU Frequency" is at 1.8 GHz, but after I set "System Voltage Control" to Auto, and increased "Fine CPU Clock Ratio" by +0.5 , "CPU Frequency is now 2.5GHz but "Current CPU Temperature" reads 40-41* c. I really do not want to overclock anything,(not familiar with over clocking anyway). Just did that to see the CPU ran at 2.5 GHz speed as advertised.

Do I need to replace the stock thermal paste with something better?

Thanks.

40* C is fine. As long as you're below 50 under load, you're ok. Running the processor faster is making it get hotter :-)

Thanks, is it a normal thing for this Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz to stepped down from its rated speed of 2.5GHz in the bios? Mine was I think 1.8GHz in the bios when installed. I wanted it to run on its stock speed-2.5GHz without any voltage increase.

Still looking for this Speedstep, meanwhile I called Gigabyte tech support about my motherboard not recognizing the stock speed of the cpu.I was directed thru few steps in the bios to get the stock speed (2.5 Ghz)....Steps:
F8 to check bios version ,up to date, next, load the "Fail safe bios default settings" and saved.
Next,"Load the Optimized bios default settings" and saved. That was it to get the stock speed to 2.5Ghz.

Only thing is that the "Fine Cpu clock ratio" is now +0.5, from +0.0

Couple of issues: Bios recognizes floppy drive but during startup,no floppy drive indicator led.
When "seek floppy drive settings" is enabled in bios,I get floppy drive error from 15 sec window.Led only comes on when floppy cable iinstalled incorrectly.

Also should I be aware of any special note when installing vista home premium? Or is straight forward?

Thanks.

Something must have changed at Gigabyte. I will call them tomorrow and see for myself.
Normally they are impossible to reach over the phone.

No indicator led on floppy drive solved. Removed it from the case for careful examination of cable orientation and cable connection to the motherboard,I found out that one the controller pins was bent, and after fixing it and cabled it correctly, indicator led flashes momentarily during startup

Any recommendations installing vista home premium? Like pressing f6 to install sata drivers or that 's no longer necessary? Thanks for input.

You shouldn't need to press f6 with vista.

Just boot from the dvd and follow the prompts.

Update:
Oh yes,I found the 'Speedstep' thing in the bios but left it alone.

I couldn't able to get a refund from Zipzoomfly for the defective ram since according to their policy,I've already cut the UPC Code from the product package and mailed it to the Mir (mail in rebate) company. However, they can offer a replacement when they receive the defective ram.
A lesson learned.

A replacement process was going to caused delay so I bought this from Newegg:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122

So far, no cons, all pros for this ram.Vista installed smoothly without any problems.

One problem though about the hard drive led, non-stop blinking every second.

This blinking is different from normal drive activities.busy or idle.

After searching for solution with no success, although the search made me suspected the dvd burner,so I unplugged the the dvd burner data cable http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136152 and power cable. After that, no more blinking every second. Plunged them back in,problem resumed.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Glad it's mostly working :-D
Try switching which SATA ports the DVD and the harddrive are plugged into. The motherboard just sees 2 sata devices, and apparently thinks the DVD is the harddrive. I bet the DVD is plugged into SATA-1.

Does it matter where sata hard drive or sata dvd drive is plugged?

Are the sata ports numbered??

Current drives setup in bios/cmos:
IDE Channell 0 Master (hl-DT-STDVD-RAM GH22)
IDE Channel 0 Slave (None)
IDE Channel 1 Master (WDC WD1600AAJS-00L7A)
IDE Channel 1 Slave (None)

Integrated Peripherals:
On chip Primary PCI IDE (Enabled
On Chip Secondary PCI IDE (Enabled)
ON Chip Sata Mode (Auto)
PATA IDE Set to Disabled
Sata Port 0/2 Set to CH. 0 Master/slave
Sata Port 1/3 Set to CH. 1 Master/Slave

I need more understanding about all these configurations. I'll try your suggestions tomorrow.
Thanks.

I tried all the sata ports on the board with the hard drive and the burner cables without any success--led still flashes every second. The only thing stoping the every second flashing is disabling/uninstalled the LG Burner from Device manager or unpluging the burner data cable.

Googling results point to vista/xp polling the burner every second.Others solved this by replacing the board, some replaced the burner with different one, while others flashed their drives (not LG brand though) .Still others are lliving with it.

Thanks.

Hmm. If the flashing bothers you, you can always unplug the case LED from the motherboard, that way you can still use all your devices :-)
