Optical to finish build
I'm trying to finish getting all my parts in for a latest build. LG and Lite-On SATA Lightscribe drives seem to be non-existent from many sellers right now. Does anyone care to comment on this HP drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827140034 If consensus is to stick with LG or Lite-On if at all possible, I do have the option of getting the system up and going with an old IDE CD-R drive. Charlie |

Here's a Lite-On SATA DVD burner: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...dlist=celebros
ZZF is good. Not quite as incredible as newegg when it comes to shipping, but who is?

I don't see Lightscribe in that burner.
That HP should be okay if you must have Lightscribe. I dunno what's going on, but it looks like Lightscribe is disappearing or something. |

makes me wonder if I should give a crap about having a lightscribe drive. If LS could be going the way of the 8088, then so would blank LS media.
In that case, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106289 look Okay? Also, does an OEM drive come w/no SATA cable? would the Antec case I haven't ordered yet or the Asus P5Q pro I haven't opened yet come with SATA cables? I know the WD black I got had no cable, so just checking to see if the case might. I did SATA on my first build and don't remember buying cables separate but don't remember where they came from either. Charlie |

The P5Q Pro comes with 4 SATA cables. An OEM drive comes in a bag with some crappy software, nothing else.

I got Light-Scribe for my build 4 years ago, and have used it twice (it came with 2 blank lightscribe discs :-). If you need professional-looking CDs, lightscribe won't cut it, and for everything else, a sharpie is fine for labeling. The added cost of the media isn't worth it for most users.

To me, Lightscribe is a waste of money. The results that I have seen have been far from impressive.

But is the resolution going to be any good? The monochrome lightscribe reminds me of the screen on my calculator.
