No disassemble!

Just finished piecing together new build. Power up and I get an error message reading: Boot disk failure. Where and what should I start trouble shooting? Let me know if you need specs on anything. Newbie with first build, mold me!

Sorry - have to ask: Did you get far enough into the build to install the Operating System?

Dod you have a non bootable cd in the drive?

System disk means Hard Drive with an Operating Sytem on it. Do you have one of those?

My Hard Drive is a Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drives - OEM. Besides hooking everything up and pressing power, that's as far as I got.

by the way: thx for taking time to answer my simpleton riddles.

You need an OS disc to install the operating system. Since this was a new build, you will need to install the os.

Put that in the cd rom drive and see if you can change the boot up sequence to boot from cd first.

Let me know if this works.

Also this disc you have, is it an upgrade disc or a full version disc?

Its the full version. After I throw it in it gives me the same prompt with the boot disk failure. Could it be a hardware issue?

So it does the boot disc error right away and you do not see anything else. If so turn off the pc and check all your connections.

How many hard drives do you have?

You have to go into the BIOS settings and set it to boot from the CD drive first.

That is what I was trying to tell him, but it seems he keeps on getting the error before he does that. I have not seem him back so maybe he got it fixed.
