Question from new builder

i just started building my computer and saw that my motherboard has a spot for the main power along with a 12v. Do i need to have them both plugged in because my power supply does not have an 8pin and that is how big the 12v is.....any help would appreciate.

The number you gave for the PSU is for a Thermaltake 120mm fan.
Take another look at the PSU connectors, it may have 2 4pin connectors that snap together to make the 8 pin.
