Amd Gaming Componets only 1500 Budget
Hello All,
I am looking to invest in a new computer and I would like to build my own again. I had a great time last time, and PCMech gave some great advice and help on building. So I will get straight to it. I am looking for a box with a loose budget of 1500. I want a newer computer in terms of ports and sockets. I would like to be able to upgrade the computer, at least a little bit in the next year or two, so I was thinking DDR3 Ram and AM3 Socket. I would like to go with AMD again, I am a big fan. For the Processor I am looking at the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Quad Core Processor http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...1&sku=A79-0955 I am not sure what exactly motherboard. I had seen the ASUS M4A79T Deluxe Motherboard RAM Bundle http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...0&sku=B69-3006 This seems like a good deal, but I am not sure if that is what I am looking for in terms of quality and ports. For the Video Card I had picked EVGA GeForce GTX 280 Video Card http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...5&sku=E145-289 But I am not sure if this is still a good card, I had seen it a while ago as top end but I am no longer certain. For and OS I am going with the vista home premium 64 bit cause I think that allows me to upgrade ram farther later, not completely positive on this one. Other than that I am not sure. I would like a cool looking case, mid-tower size. I would probably get a PSU separately, but I would like one which can take 4 hard drives and 2 video cards eventually. I think 700W should be good but I am not sure. I have no idea in terms of wireless cards what is top end anymore. I would like a very fast HDD or maybe solid state. I would just be putting the operating system on it, and have files on my old hard drives so something small around 150 should work. Are SS drives still to expensive to be worth while or are they good now? I don't need a screen, mouse, keyboard, spearkers, or sound card. I don't think I missed anything that is needed. Thanks ahead for any help, Cikrum |

For a hard drive, look at the Western Digital caviar black drives. SSD are still too expensive for teh performance they offer.
For a video card, look at the 4890 instead. Maybe even the 4850 x2 or 4870 x2. For a psu, I like corsair power supplies.

I highly recommned you go with ATI 4890 instead of the over priced 280GTX for gaming. AMD owns ATI and the combo works extremely well.
The Nvidia cards are power hungry, ATI seems to now have the best drivers for gaming. The 955 is a monster, that is what I have in my gaming rig. As Shadowpr stated Corsair make awesome gaming power supplies, that is the way to go. Do yourself a favor and shop at www.newegg.com much better inventory and prices, Tigerdirect are known for selling second rate hardware and have not so good customer service.
