Beginner Gaming Computer

Putting together a system for my SON as a reward for making High Honners in 6th grade
A little more than I wanted to spend but I dont' want him to grow out to soon. He is just getting into playing games like World of War craft and others. I am sure he will soon be playing other higher end games.

PLease help me tweak these items to ge the most for the money.

Thanks

That processor is over kill for a Beginner gamer. An E5300 is all you need the ATi 4830 is surprisingly fast but a 4870 will game much better. For gaming you always want more video card than CPU.
The power supply is over kill unless you plan on doing lots of upgrading in the future. If you go with the 4870 this is all you need Sea Sonic 550W Power supply.
Now you will have a very good gaming computer for the same kind of money you were looking to spend.

Seasonic makes excellent power supplies.

Don't forget an operating system, and dvd drive.

Let's do a bit of adjustment for most bang for the buck.

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131347 (P5Q SE Plus)
Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116091 (Pentium E6300)
Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145184 (Corsair 2x2 DDR2-800)
Hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136319 (WD Caviar Black 640gb)
Power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005 (Corsair 650TX)
Video: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161269 (HD 4870 1gb)

You need an optical drive. Newegg's stock of SATA DVD burners is bad right now, look for LG, Lite-On, or Asus.

Reason for the Corsair PSU: it's a steal at that price. Corsair PSU's are extremely high quality.

I totally agree with glc on Corsair power supplies. I recommend Sea Sonic because I buy them in volume and they are exceptionally reliable, out of over 5000 I have bought so far I only RMA 2.

right now corsair gives you the best value. antec and enermax are a little overprices.
if you wanna go modular, this seventeam is also great value. sevemteam is unknown as a retailer, but has been making PSU for silverstone (which are also exellent)
