Question Updating a $4000.00 computer. Will this Edit HD video?

Hello all,

I have the following computer:

Antec true power 550W power supply
DUAL Intel Xeon 1.60GHz CPU =3.20GHz
3 GB RAM
Adaptec 1210SA Serial ATA RAID
Adaptec RAID 0 SCSI 465GB Disk Drive
= (250GB western digital 2500JD X 2 )
WD 740GD 74 SATA 10K Raptor 70GB (I have Windows installed on here)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 256mb
ASUS Quietrack CRW-5232AS Cd-RW
PLEXTOR PX-712A DVD-RW
Creative Audigy 2 Zs Platinum
Thermaltake TSunami Dream ATX tower
Win XP Pro SP2

And I'm looking the update it, so that I can edit/play FULL HD video from a Canon 5D MKII.

So this is what I've come up with:

-XFX MBN790IUL9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813141009

-Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Yorkfield 2.66GHz 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115057

-CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
(PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TW3X4G1600C9DHX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145200

-XFX GS250XZDFC GeForce GTS 250 1GB Core Edition 256-bit
GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150356

I would buy this equipment and swap it for what I have in my rig already.

So please give me your input on thi. Is it compatiable? will this edit Full HD video? What do you think?

Don't be afraid to suggest other parts.

Thanks,
SFTech

XFX makes garbage. For video Eidting you need either an ATI or Nvidia Workstation video cards and an Asus motherboard, one to go with that CPU is the P5Q Pro. The E8400 is more than capable of video editing but it will depend on the software you use. The Q8400 is a weak sausage processor, if you need Quad Core either go with Intel Q9xxx series or AMD Phenom II.

The recommended Intel quad core is a Q9550 or Q9650.

Don't waste your money on a Maximus. The base P5Q or P5Q Pro is plenty good enough.
