AMD processors don't work in Intel motherboards.

A few things pop out to me.
First, I've never heard of 'Seventeam' brand power supplies. I would look at Corsair brand instead. They are very high quality. Next, I'd look at an Asus P5Q motherboard instead of eVGA. Asus is very good quality. Last, you need DDR2 instead of DDR3. I'd get Corsair DDR2-800.

Intel Processors work best with Intel Chipsets so I totally agree with Alaron, the Asus P5Q series motherboards are awesome, stay away from the SE and SE plus models though, the 24 pin ATX plug is in aweful spot. I recommend the P5Q Pro model.
The EVGA 9800GTX is obsolete in my opinion, check out the ATI 4850, much better gaming card.

Since it's a budget build, you probably don't really need the all bells and whistles of the Asus P5Q Pro. Possibly the P5Q or P5Q SE instead if you're looking to save some cash.
For an ATi video card, I'd recommend the HIS brand, and if the 4850 is too expensive for your budget, next significant drop in price is the 4650 (crysis will probably chug on the 4650, though). By the way, what exactly is your budget for this build?

Yeah, like I said before go with the P5Q Pro, it fits your budget and is a very good motherboard for later expansions. I recommend you go with an Asus video card, they have the best support and their cards run the coolest of the lot. You can even fit a 4870 in your budget which is a big performance boost over the 4850.

The 9800GTX is outdated video card, the ATI 4870 and 4890 are pretty much the better gaming cards currently. If you want to compare Nvidia card to the 4870 you will need to look at the GTX260 and 275 but the ATI cards game much better.

To use with what? Better is only relevant to what you are using it with. RAM sticks don't work by themselves. For P5Q you need DDR2 800 if you using E8xxx cpu if you going with lower intel then DDr2 667

Well you don't want the EVGA motherboard. Intel processors work best with Intel chipsets so my advice is to stick to the P5Q and use DDR2 800

Here's one comparison...there are a few others:
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/g...Dead,1184.html The ATi 48xx and nVidia 2xx series cards have about double the performance of the 9800GTX And a comparison of the cards just in the $100-$200 range: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/g...b200,1184.html |

Threads merged, please keep all questions about a build in one thread.
With the E7600, all you need is DDR2-800, even if you overclock. If you were going to overclock a E8xxx processor, then you would want DDR2-1066. Last edited by glc; 06-24-2009 at 12:13 PM. |
