It's finally time to build!
I've run my current system for 6 years now. Pretty good for a first time builder, I think.
I'm ready to build myself a new one. Will be used for every day computing and gaming. I don't overclock or anything like that. Here is what I am coming up with. Let me know if you see anything I am overlooking or, see where I can save a buck or two .I'll reuse my keyboard, mouse and monitor... Thanks!! You need a 64 bit operating system if you are going to use 6gb of ram. Make ABSOLUTELY SURE whatever memory you use is on the Asus QVL for that motherboard. The i7 platform is proving to be EXTREMELY fussy.
You seem to be missing a hard drive. I recommend WD Black. The 1 TB is coming with a combo deal that throws in Acronis True Image right now. |

I would unless you have lots of experience building and debuging computers. If you get lucky it could work out flawless but it is very fussy platform to say the least. I like the LGA775 I think Intel did extremely well with them and by no means are they obsolete nor will they be for a few years. The Core 2 Duo processors are way ahead of their time and if you have an E8500 I doubt you can max it out unless you are doing some heavy duty rendering or Audio production.

I'm going to have to re-think it now....I've only built an AMD, but I would imagine it's pretty much the same...
