New system

Looking to build a new system soon. The one I have now has been working great for me ( specs are as follows below ) however there are just to many new parts out I feel like Im missing out on. I7 , DDR3 ram !! I don't do to much on the gaming side. the system is mainly used for digital DJing , music editing / producing. Some photo editing. Other then that I'm a power freak. Must have more power. I guess I could reuse my ATI 4850 , would like a new ASUS mobo that takes DDR3 and a cost efficient I7 processor. Any ideas with what I should start with...

Thanks

Well, you pretty much spelled out what you wanted. Note that the new i5s will be coming out in a few months and will feature a new socket, meaning that LGA1366 has likely already met its end. If that's okay with you and you don't plan on upgrading your cpu until you get a new mobo anyways, i7 is fine.

CPU - i7, 920. Cheapest i7. D0 steppings OC to 3.8-4.0GHz ridiculously well.
Mobo - ASUS P6T or P6T deluxe.
RAM - I've been liking the value and reliability of G.SKILL lately (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231225). Either that or Corsair 3x2GB.

Honestly, you are not really missing out on much. What you have I doubt you have used to it's limits. If you have the itch to spend money I would not buy an i7, that is a dead platform. In the Intel news letter it described a new i7 completely different than what is out right now. I would wait till the new i5, i7s are out before doing anything, also the current i7 platform is very finicky and unstable even with Asus motherboards, I believe that is why Intel is scrapping it.
