Proposal and need help
Hello PcMech
![]() I'm trying to build a gaming pc, and i have visited many sites, and i've used this site a lot :- www.buildyourown.org.uk/forums and members there have helped me make a specifiation for my gaming pc. My gaming pc wants to be able to go on the internet, be able to play games such as Crysis, and do every day things or school things etc. This is the proposal they've made after many edits and modifications and i'd like a 3rd party to see what could be improved, something i dont need or do need, or a place where i can buy cheaper components. I am in the U.K so only U.K sites would be valid please Proposal:- MSI P45 Neo3-FR ---------- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145704 - £86.35 E8400 -------------------- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139971- £125.00 GTX 260 ---- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...did=GX-104-GW- £132.99 4GB OCZ RAM -------------- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154644 -£39.99 WD 500GB Hard Drive ------ http://www.ebuyer.com/product/124228 - £39.90 OCZ StealthXStream 600W -- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127861 - £55.00 Sony DVD ----------------- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159310 -£22.02 Vista 64-bit ------------- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123067 - £75.23 Case---------------------- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143852 -£136.99 Artic Cooling------------- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105994 - £14.86 Total Price: £728.33 This is my current proposal. i do not have a monitor, wireless adapter and a Sound Card And Speakers placed into that proposal and this is where i need Your Help. 1st question- Monitors:- Would any monitors do that can play high graphic games, or does monitors have a role in playin good games. if so please help me find a monitor in www.ebuyer.com or www.overclockers.co.uk. Also if you know this store "Costco" please tell me what to look for in the spec of the monitors. 2nd question- Wireless Adapters:- Using this site:- http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=8&cat=39&subcat=1019 and using the other forum i found that most should be compatible. however i do not know which is a good wireless adapter for my BT Home Hub Router. I was hopin this would be ok :- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/103208 3rd Question- I need a Sound Card and Speakers, i dont know if a sound card would be provided with one of the components i listed in my proposal and if not can you help me and search for one in www.ebuyer.com . i would also appreciate it if you could find some decent speakers or would any do cos i can just go to PC World and buy a good but cheap one there xD. I would like a reply by tomorrow morning, because my brother's laptop broke and i've given mine to him. Sorry for the "essay" but i am desperate and this project is nearing its final development- Buying the components and making it. Thank you for takin the time to read and replying to this topic

ebuyer has a habit of saying they have things in stock, taking your money and then informing you it is out of stock. This happened to me and several people I know back in the UK on a few occasions and in one instance putting us in a very difficult position on a commercial job we were doing.
Try taking a look at www.dabs.com they have a trade and public side to their site and prices are comparable with ebuyer.

Hi ya
I would suggest one of these boards instead of the MSI, I would probably pick the Gigabyte but the Asus is a good choice if your new. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...atid=5&subcat= http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...atid=5&subcat= You dont need an aftermarket cooler unless you're overclocking. I always like to, if possible, go to the store and actually see the monitor up close on the display, you can see what works best for you. Anything with a 16x12 res or higher would be a good choice for a gaming monitor, lower response times etc. It depends on your budget. Dell, Acer, Asus, Samsung, Benq, LG are all good brands. You only need a sound card if you plan to really spend some $$ on the sound system otherwise its a waste. Modern onboard audio is pretty good. Ill let someone else help you on a brand/choice for that wireless pci card. I prefer D-link, Netgear, and Cnet... |

Thank you for all the replies
it seems worrying about ebuyer.com so thanks for the warning. i will do more research into this. So after all the replies:- Monitor- just go to the store:- 16 x 12 res is good for most graphic games including Crysis. Sound Cards and Speakers- i dont need sound cards, and any speakers will do and again i'll just go to the store. Adapters- thank you Good, i appreciate it. but i think i know someone who can help me with that. it seems like i've got everything now. please excuse the next post. this is for my benefit

Why the after market cooler, that is a waste of money? MSI motherboard will be a mistake, it will more than likely fail in a month if it ever works in the first place, quality is very questionable.
Get an Asus or an Intel motherboard for this build Asus prefered http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145751

To elaborate on the CPU cooler question: If you're not overclocking, you don't need an aftermarket cooler, and using anything but the one that comes with your CPU will void your warranty.
I second the recommendation to go with an ASUS motherboard. Rock solid.
