$900 Intel Gaming Rig Final Suggestions

I really just want to make sure that I am not doing anything stupid here before I buy all of this. I have built a couple computers before, but I still like other's opinions on what I could tweak to make it better. The main thing which I am not sure on is the motherboard. I am on the fence on whether or not to grab the ASUS or the Gigabyte. I am sitting at roughly $860 including either motherboard after rebates.

Looks good. My choice on the mobo would be the ASUS. I would also go with a Western Digital Caviar Black instead of the Seagate.

Asus for sure on the motherboard.
Instead of the Nvidia card I highly recommend you go with an ATI 4890, it will game much better.

Here is the one I recommend because of the exceptional warranty http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121311

Actually, instead of intel you should go AMD. My current rig cost the same as yours did but I was able to get the AMD phenom 955 Quad core. In fact, newegg has an 85$ off combo deal with the processor and motherboard I got. Here is the link.

The price JUST dropped too, 30$ I hate when this kind of stuff happens =/.

That's the combo, 85$ off, I'd take it if I was you. A total of 310, a deal.

All interesting things to look at. I think I am going to grab the ASUS motherboard.

The ATI 4890 while a better card I do not really feel that it warrants spending $50 more, after rebates, judging by the benchmarks.

Personally I prefer the Intel a bit more partly because my other processors that I have are socket 775 and so switching out in case of problems is easy and simple. More of a convenience in the long run sort of thing for me personally. I am still looking at the combo though. Nice deal.

Now I have this PSU from my current PC.

Would this be able to handle my new rig being that it is just 520W and the videocard is looking for 500W? The PSU is one thing that I am always careful around being that my one PSU failed and took out my videocard with it before. Glad that was all it took out though.

GTX260 216sp is a great card. That HX520 should power that rig fine, but you won't have any room for upgrades. Corsair is a good brand and will almost never take other components out when they fail.

Seanth, we don't try to sell people AMD's here who want Intel, and vice versa. Thank you.

If someone is not sure or doesn't care, then it's fair game.

For PSUs I almost just get Corsair. They are my go to company for PSUs even though that most people only know them for memory. I think that I might just grab the 650TX for the sole fact of it will allow me to sell my current computer with everything in it to someone without any hassle. It will cost more to me initially, but hopefully one of the people I know might want my old one being that I am "that guy" when it comes to having the best computer in the group.

Alright I am good now. Now for the big task of clicking the checkout button. I swear that is the hardest thing to do when building a new computer.

wow i just realized that they give you a combo deal to the CP850 with that antec case. that PSU is exceptional and antec puts it for a low price so people buy into their CPX form factor.

Heya, what're your final specs (and how much did it cost you all up) if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking to do something pretty similar and your budget is around the same as mine, cept I'm in aus and things tend to cost a little more over here...
