having trouble with a rebuild

I upgraded my computer and a problem that i'm having is that while it boots up, it is unstable. It will reboot at random times. I don't have to do anything either. I can let it boot up to the log in screen and let it sit, and eventually it will crash. I'm wondering if i have a hardware in compatibility or something and hopefully you guys can help me out with this.
Here is the important hardware:

Mobo: ECS elitegroup gf8200a

CPU: AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core 6000+

Memory: OCZ 4GB (2x2gb) 240 pin DDR2 1066 SDRAM

Vid Card: nvidia 8400 gs

I've tried newest drivers, and flashing the BIOS on the mobo and nothing seems to have helped. One last thing i've noticed is that when the blue screen flashes on the screen for a second, I see something talking about dump_atapi.sys on occasion. But that is usually doesn't come up and it goes by to fast for me to catch much else. If you guys need more info, I'd be happy to get it to ya so I can finally make this thing run correctly. Thanks in advance.

Control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery settings - uncheck restart on error. That will keep the bluescreen up so you can read it.

However, this sounds like you tried using a hard drive with an OS already on it from another computer - for best results you need to reinstall the OS on the new computer. It's still trying to load the old drivers.

As an aside - ECS boards are not known for their reliability, quality, or stability. Also, you don't need DDR2-1066, and that may cause issues if you are trying to run it at 1066 speeds.

If you can take/send back that ECS you will be doing yourself a favor before it is too late. Get an Asus motherboard if you want reliability.

glc - I did reinstall the OS on the booting hard drive cause I knew it was likely to be a problem. Used dban on it and then went about reinstalling it and starting from scratch. As far as the mobo, I was going for a really cheap set of upgrades but I guess this wasn't the best idea. :\ And about the 1066 memory, how is it likely to be a problem? The motherboard supports it so i'm confused as to why it would be a problem.

khalil - i'm tempted to do that. I had an asus one before and it did wonderfully.

I can't send it back, its been to long... and I can't really afford to do another mobo atm. :\ grrr.... I'll see if I can get more from the blue screen and see if it gives me anything useful. As its microsoft, i'm not going to hold my breath.
