I seen this video on Maximum PC's site and thought I would link it here. I found it to be pretty straight forward for anyone building their first PC. This is a good way for first time builders to see what all is involved in building your own PC.
This video along with all the knowledgeable people here should have you up and running in no time. link>>>>>Maximum PC's Build Tutorial

It's a good video, only thing that i don't agree with is installing everything(except video card on mb) outside the case. It results in you putting the mb in while holding on to cpu heatsink/fan and if you're not lucky that will snape.

I do that all the time actually. If it's secured properly you shouldn't really have a problem. (Note I use aftermarket heatsinks that screw in to the motherboard with a backplate instead of just the plastic push-pin).

I do it all the time also, but would you recommend it to a noob to do that? The video in question is targeted at noob, and I personally would not want one to do it as they got no clue what they are doing to begin with.

I would suggest being careful. I did it with my first build, I was just careful.
Like everything, it's a learning experience, and different things work for different people. It good to see different methods. |

*ALWAYS* install the CPU, heatsink, and RAM on the board BEFORE installing it in the case. If you try to install them INSIDE the case, you will flex the motherboard and possibly crack some solder runs. You should also do a quick POST on it out of the case to make sure the core components work.
PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!! |
