Im assuming you already have a case and optical drive?

The processor is a beast, but might be overkill (and definitely is on the pricey side). You may be able to skimp there and instead go with two 4870 graphic cards in Crossfire/SLI. If you do that you may be better off with a 750W PSU though.

You really don't see games taking use of multi-core processors. If you still want a beast of a processor at a fraction of the price I'd look at the E8600. If you want a quad the Q9650 will still cost a lot less.

I would drop down to a asus p5q, e8500, 2x2gb ddr2-800 and use that extra money saved for a case, optical drive, os, keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor. If you have those, then use that money to upgrade the video card in 6 months if you want to stay on top of games and have the latest and greatest. (not necessary to do though)

4890 is better than 4870 but 4870x2 is best ATI card.

I am thinking of going with this case, what is the opinion about it? Is there some cheaper case that is also good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119187

Good choice moving down to the 920. Spending more than that seems fairly silly. Looks like a good build.
